Hi, I'm Diederik Martens from SMOps (now Chapman Bright)
Your sales- and marketing operations partner
and lately I have been asked a question
about what it takes to implement
marketing automation what does it take
to roll out? how much hours does it take?
how long does it take? how much budget do
I need? and that's why we're actually at
this construction site, but I'll get back
to that later first of all let me point
out a difference. There are two different
types of marketing automation platforms
we have the more templated versions
which are much less flexible and we have
marketing automation platforms that
provide enterprise functionality like
Marketo offers. the big difference there
is that the system provides you building
blocks like like bricks or electra or
switches, like workflows and pages
and emails which can be fully configured
and set up. so that brings me back to
this construction site because I want to
focus on the enterprise implementation
right here there is a big difference
when it comes to implementation because
building a garage box is completely
different than building for instance the
Burj Dubai so building a garage box
basically if you have a Mason right that
completely well even do the foundation
with bricks then build the walls and you
might be able to simply you know put up
one light bulb but when it comes to
Burj Dubai then basically you're
looking at building a giant structure
you need steel workers concrete Masons
people that have all kinds of different
skills and architects and you might need
security for entrance to the building
and even if you find all those different
roles in one person that can help you it
would take that single person you know
for centuries to complete Burj Dubai
whilst you needed to be ready in four
years so basically rounding up this
question it takes a different set of
people a great team a for instance
Marketo solutions architect a business
analyst a security expert a database and
integrations expert a marketer so
it's all on the business side your IT it
takes different roles but also when it
comes to duration and amount of effort
it takes to implement right the garage
box is much quicker to implement than a
Burj Dubai but at least looking at some
kind of an enterprise implementation you
might already consider maybe like 15 man
days just to you know get your templates
in for landing pages emails tracking
email domains example programs tracking
lead source assignment and interesting
moments sales tasks integration with
your basic native CRM system but it can
also take a full year to train people
roll out internationally so consider
these different elements when you know
you're thinking about implementing
marketing automation if you want to know
more about that feel free to use the
comments below to ask a question or go
directly of course to our website to ask
a question and if you really like this
